GOOD NEWS: Loads Of Love Helps Get Laundry Done

On the second Friday evening of every month, you can find Caroline Gowan doing what she like best - hanging out at her Warner Robins, Georgia neighborhood laundromat. The 16-year-old comes with quarters, detergent and dryer sheets and pays for strangers to have their clothes washed and folds it too. She calls her effort Loads of Love.

It all started two years ago as a Girl Scout project that she started when she learned not everyone has a washer and dryer and that washing clothes at the laundromat gets expensive quick. The teen had such a good time meeting people in her community while washing clothes with them, she joined with her church to keep the free laundry going.

Gowan thought she'd be helping homeless people at first, but mostly she helps people who have jobs, but they're barely making ends meet. "It's taught me to have compassion," she said. "A lot of compassion for other people, and to be thankful, because we are so blessed." she adds, "Come in with dirty clothes, and leave with a renewed spirit."
