We all know spaghetti is super easy to make and is sure to please the whole family, plus it goes great with red wine. Well Jan decided to share her mom's famous meat sauce. It's easy to make and sure to make your spaghetti even better.

Momma's D'Atri's Homemade Meat Sauce

INGREDIENTS

1 large onion, finely diced

3 or 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced

2 sticks of celery, finely diced

1 large carrot, finely diced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 pound of fresh ground beef

1/2 pound Italian sausage (sweet or hot)

2 cans (16oz) organic tomato sauce

1 can (6oz) organic tomato paste

3 bay leaves

2 tablespoons fresh basil, finely chopped

Salt and pepper to taste (add only at the END of the cooking process)

DIRECTIONS

In a large pan (or Dutch oven) over medium heat, saute onion, garlic, celery and carrot in olive oil until tender and translucent.

Add beef and sausage and cook until browned.

Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, wine, bay leaves and basil. Simmer for about 45 minutes.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

TIP: To store sauce in Tupperware or freezer container, spray first with non-stick cooking oil to avoid staining the container.
