The Park reported eight vandalized cacti in the last 2 weeks.
Andy Fisher, the spokesperson for Saguaro National Park, said one of the saguaros was 10 feet tall, which could have been over 100 years old. She said this vandalism is disrespectful.
According to the Arizona Department of Agriculture, they are protected under the native plants rule. The law states there are big consequences for this action - six months in jail or up to 5,000 dollars in fine.
